The DN10 road section between Poienile and Prejmer, traversing the Buzău Pass, offers a mix of natural beauty and some interesting attractions, primarily focused on the natural landscape and local heritage. This section is a critical part of the national road connecting Buzău and Brașov, traversing the scenic Curvature Carpathians through the Buzău Pass. Along the way you will pass by Siriu Lake, a stunning artificial reservoir nestled in the Buzău Mountains.

  • The Siriu Dam is Romania’s second-largest embankment dam, built using clay, stone, and sterile material – no concrete involved. It was built between 1982 and 1994 and it powers the Nehoiașu hydroelectric plant, generating about 144 GWh annually
  • The Prejmer Fortification, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a remarkable example of a fortified church built by the Transylvanian Saxons in Romania. Its most striking feature is the massive circular wall, up to 4.5 meters thick and 12 meters high, which encircles a Gothic church. Despite being attacked over 50 times between the 13th and 17th centuries, Prejmer was rarely captured. Today, it stands as one of the best-preserved fortified churches in Europe.
